Dr. Lin Yu-Hsuan and the research team have focused on the study of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) for many years, exploring its diverse applications in medical and social health issues.<\/p>

HRV is a measure derived from analyzing continuous heart rate variations using time-domain, frequency-domain, and non-linear mathematical models. It quantifies sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system functions and holds significant clinical value. HRV not only predicts cardiovascular disease risks but also reflects autonomic nervous system activity.<\/p>

Our team’s research spans various fields, including the impact of mental stress on myocardial ischemia and cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease, the effects of shift work and long working hours on the physiological functions of healthcare workers, the influence of treatments such as methadone therapy on autonomic function in heroin-dependent individuals, and the effects of aging and congestive heart failure on HRV.<\/p>

Our research team has demonstrated HRV’s value in psychiatry, psychophysiology, and workplace health, emphasizing the connections between gender differences, autonomic regulation, and personality traits. Additionally, they have explored the role of HRV in the use of psychotropic medications (such as antipsychotics and anticholinergic drugs) and applied HRV to evaluate health-related quality of life and health management strategies for patients with mental disorders.<\/p>
