Internet Addiction

We have worked diligently to develop tools that quantify smartphone and internet gaming addiction. One of the tools we have developed is the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SPAI), which has been peer-reviewed, published, and has received requests for translations from scholars around the world. We also developed a tool that makes precise measurements of smartphone use called “Know Addiction”. This app uses screen on and off times to calculate smartphone use durations and frequencies, and it uses algorithms to calculate indicators of excessive smartphone use.

With the rise of different types of digital devices, the concept of “internet addiction” encompasses any behavior on the internet on any type of device. These behaviors divided into four main categories: addiction to the internet addiction, addiction to online gaming (playing online games on a computer), addiction to smartphones (using the internet on a phone, etc.), and addiction to mobile games (playing games on a phone). To learn more about out internet addiction questionnaires, feel free to watch the 3-minute short version or full 17-minute description video on the right to choose the appropriate questionnaire and download it from the iWIN official website.
