The 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded for the discovery of mechanisms controlling circadian rhythms, which revealed that irregular sleep patterns may increase the risk of psychiatric and medical illnesses. Making long-term (up to months or years), naturalistic, and objective recordings of daily sleep patterns has long been a challenge for scholars and clinicians.
We have developed an automated, smartphone -based automatic sleep recording application– “Rhythm” to effectively solves this barrier to research.
